Urgent Help Needed for Mia's Vet Bills after bear attack.
Donation protected
On June 15, my close friend let her dogs out to go potty before bedtime. They have three dogs. Their German Shorthaired Pointer was the first one out the door and was violently greeted by a 400+ pound bear as soon as it left the porch. There was little to no time to react other than yelling and screaming until the bear let go. Mia got bandaged up the best they could that night and got into the vet first thing the next morning.
Mia had to undergo surgery to repair her stomach that was punctured, as well as many stitches externally. She also had to have four drains put in to release all the fluids. Mia had to stay at the veterinary hospital for six days before she could go back into surgery, as the skin was dying and the stitches weren’t holding. After seven days of being hospitalized, she was sent home. She still has two large holes in her side where there wasn’t enough skin to stitch up. She has to return to the vet every 3 to 4 days and has antibiotics and pain meds to take twice a day. Her bandages have to be changed twice a day as well. We will find out this upcoming Monday if she will still need a third surgery.
Her vet bills are steadily increasing. They to date are in excess of $4,000. This is a heavy financial burden for anyone to carry. But the bond that she has with her fur baby is one that has no monetary value placed upon it. So please, anything that you could possibly do would be of great help.
