My name is Melony Rezac. I am raising funds because 2 months ago my 34-year-old son went to Alaska for work in the fish industry for the season. I was all set to pick him up at the airport coming home to Fresno, CA when I got a call from a friend of my son (Justin). She told me that my son was in ICU in Anchorage, Alaska, and to call the hospital. I did just that, and when the nurse came on the line, he told me that my son had a massive heart attack and died the night before. He said that my son is physically alive but shows no signs of brain activity. They said that he will not live without life support and they were keeping him alive till they could reach his next of kin, which is myself.

I am unable to buy a plane ticket to get to Anchorage to have him cremated and bring him home with me. I will also need funds to stay at a motel and for food while I'm there. They said I only have maybe a day or two to get to Anchorage before they unplug his life support.

He's leaving behind 1 daughter, age 13, and 2 stepdaughters, ages 10 and 19.

I am unable to pay for these expenses because I am currently unable to work and waiting for a disability decision. I receive $245.00 per month from General Relief. I also receive $292.00 in SNAP benefits monthly.

I desperately need help with funds. Please help.
