Impossible is a word in the fool’s dictionary—not in God’s, nor in mine.
My name is Leena. I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of an unknown origin, and as treatment began, I was also told I have stage 1 breast cancer. Ten years ago, this same hospital—City of Hope in Duarte, California—saved my life from stage 4 cancer. Now I’m back for my second rodeo with this dreaded disease.
2023 was a year of deep loss for me as I lost two bothers that year and then another on October 7th 2025. Feeling their absence, I took a solo trip to grieve—and on my way home, I discovered a lump in my neck. Alarmed that it was in my lymphatic system, I flew to City of Hope in California for treatment.
Some of you know me as a wilderness guide in my younger years, riding horses throughout California’s national parks and forests. Those experiences made me tough—tested me physically, mentally, and spiritually. Several doctors have said that my strength and athletic background helped me survive before, and I carry that same determination now. My life has always been filled with adventure, a love of nature, humanity, and God.
Now I could use a little help to cross the finish line and come home. I am not dying—I am living, and I am determined to see my loved ones again. What I need is practical support: help with housing (I’ve found the most affordable hotel nearby) and transportation to and from the hospital for treatment.
Every donation, and every prayer, brings me hope and strength. Thank you for standing with me in this fight and helping me continue my journey.
—Leena
