Hey, everyone!
I've just started a GoFundMe account for Kerry Jaggers.
Kerry is now between a serious "rock and a hard place."
He is about to be effectively homeless and has nowhere to go.
For those of you that are getting older like I am and need a bit of a refresher, Kerry was the original DJ at the Starck Club here in Dallas. A DJ widely responsible for the promotion of modern music through his opening, owning, and DJing clubs like Dallas's Starck Club and Village Station, Houston's Rich's, Austin's clubF00T, Tex's, and Boathouse, and Backstreet, and San Francisco's dasKlub and Ten15 Folsom.
Thanks to an ongoing dispute with his landlord's son and husband who lied to the courts, and an attorney that committed malpractice in their attempt to represent him, he is now being forced from the residence he has occupied for almost 11 years. He put quite a bit of money, blood, sweat, and tears into this home based on an agreement with his original landlord, and he now has to vacate the property by THURSDAY, JUNE 19TH.
As many of you know, Kerry has had some rather serious health issues over the years, which limited his ability to work and required him to rely on federal funding to pay for his doctor visits, medications, and other health costs. Kerry has always been the type of guy that would give you the "shirt off his back," so now I'm asking everyone that has known, loved, and respected Kerry to please do the same and donate to his cause. Due to the limited period of time until he has to be out of the property, there is DEFINITELY a sense of urgency here. But regardless of when received, the funds will all be put to good use. Your donations will be used to get Kerry packed up and all his belongings moved into and pay for storage, and to hopefully temporarily find folks to foster his 4 cats and an aging Panther Chameleon with health problems. It will also be used to pay for temporary housing (as needed) and legal assistance while we find a way to get Kerry into new permanent housing.
If anyone is willing to give Kerry a place to stay while going through this ordeal, that would be greatly appreciated as well. This is truly an unfair and rather unbelievable situation given how everything ultimately transpired, and unfortunately, it's something that could happen to many of us at any time. Each donation, no matter the size, will ease Kerry's burden and help buy him the time to get the assistance he will need to find a new home.
By supporting Kerry, you are not only providing vital financial assistance but also reminding him that "no man is a failure that has friends"—a quote from "It's a Wonderful Life" that I've held close to my heart for years, and one that propped me up during all the times I've been down as well.
Friends are what give our lives character and zest. They pick us up when we are feeling blue, they walk with us, they laugh with us, and friends take care of us. And the beautiful part about friendship is that it is mutual; it’s chosen. There is no failure in giving your friendship to someone. It says I need you, and you need me. We are in this life together, as long as our paths are traveling along the same road. Someday our paths may diverge as different stages of life come to pass, geography changes, or circles of community move on. But for a time, we were together as friends, chosen to give to each other.
Kerry is my FRIEND and has been part of my life for almost 35 years, so I choose to give and hope you will choose to give as well.
Many would agree that Kerry certainly is a "character" and someone who has definitely added "zest" to many of our lives over the years. He's also given shelter to others and helped people numerous times to which I've been witness. So be a friend, and please make a donation to Kerry—no matter how small. Kerry is the type of person who is truly too proud to ask, but I know he would appreciate anything anyone can do to help.
We are driving down from Dallas tomorrow to help Kerry get packed up and his belongings into storage by Thursday. If anyone wants to volunteer their time or assistance as well, that would be great - so please feel free to reach out to me directly at any time.
