On Christmas Eve, German suffered a severe stroke.
He was found on the floor of his home after what appeared to be a long struggle—nearly unresponsive. Doctors believe he fought for close to 24 hours alone, unable to call or cry out for help. It’s hard to put into words how devastating that is.
German is the father of my daughter’s best friend, Xio, and he is truly one of the kindest, most gentle, hardworking people you could ever meet. He is a devoted, stand-up dad and currently Xio’s custodial parent. She is his entire world—and he has never missed a soccer game, a school event, or a moment that mattered to her.
German is currently stable in the ICU at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN, but he will be hospitalized for the foreseeable future as he undergoes extensive testing and therapy. Xio is staying with us right now, and we are doing everything we can to keep things light, safe, and hopeful for her.
That said, the road ahead is going to be long and challenging. As German works to regain mobility and recover enough to return to work, they will need help covering basic necessities like mortgage payments, groceries, and daily living expenses.
Xio is incredibly brave and strong, but her father is her whole world. This family truly deserves support during one of the hardest moments of their lives. If you are able to give, even a little goes a long way. If you can’t donate, sharing this would mean just as much.
Please help us surround them with care, stability, and hope during this frightening time. Thank you for reading and for caring.
