Urgent Help Needed for Diane – Vulnerable Elderly Woman in Ramsgate
I’m reaching out for help for Diane, an elderly and vulnerable woman who lives alone in a flat at the top of my building in Ramsgate.
Diane has been without gas and electricity for 3 years, struggling through cold winters. She tried to get a replacement top-up key but, without the internet or a working phone, she was left without support. In January, storm damage to the roof caused her kitchen ceiling to collapse, making things even worse. Pigeons have since taken over, nesting inside and leaving hazardous mess everywhere. Her flat is now unsafe and uninhabitable.
I’ve contacted the police, social services, Age UK, and local charities, but due to stretched resources, no meaningful help has arrived. Diane has no family nearby, and I’m deeply worried about her safety and well-being.
What We Need
I'm asking for support to:
- Cover emergency roof repairs: We’ve had to act quickly to repair the roof and prevent further damage and keep the pigeons out.
- Remove pigeons and hazardous waste: Professional cleaning and sanitising are urgently needed.
- Help with energy bills: Diane's unpaid gas and electricity bills have accumulated, and she needs ongoing support to stay warm and safe.
- Provide essential repairs: From collapsed plaster to holes in the floor, her flat needs major work to become habitable again.
- Offer day-to-day support: She has no access to hot water, washes her clothes by hand, and has no working kitchen. Warm meals, clean clothes, and other basic comforts will make a huge difference.
- Connect with local community support: If you know of any Ramsgate-based groups that could assist Diane, please get in touch.
Help her move to safer accommodation – Selling her flat may be the best option, but she needs guidance.

I’m 30 years old and have lived in Thanet my whole life. I work in the healthtech sector, supporting NHS trusts to improve skin cancer pathways using AI to help save lives.
