Update: SSDI hearing is finally scheduled for 4/4/2025

Update: Spinal Fusion Surgery scheduled for January 13th, 2025.

Hello, my name is Jeff. Back in 2021, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Following that in 2022, I got COVID. After having Covid, I became stuck with the long term effects, to which I'm still battling today. Along with that, Covid caused progression in arthritis in my back, which has cause some spine damage in my mid to lower back. This affects my ability to walk, stand, or sit for periods of time. I have not been able to work since May 2023, and to this day, have not been released by my specialists to return to work.

I applied for disability when by back issues began in November of 2022. I was denied in January 2024. I'm now working with an attorney for my disability benefits.

I've been pretty much homebound since last Summer. I have trouble walking and holding my balance, and am in severe pain.

As of February 2024, I have had one surgery, a discectomy, which has "somewhat" helped with the left side of my back and leg pain, but has now moved to my entire right side, all the way down to my feet. Another surgery may be required.

At this point, I'm still limited in what I can and cannot do. I can still barely tolerate walking or sitting. I can barely get into a vehicle to go anywhere if I need to. The only places I go is to the hospital for my appointments. I won't know if another surgery is needed until I completely heal from this 1st surgery (April 2024). All of our funds have been exhausted because of all the medical issues, and trying to keep up on bills.

I really need help keeping up with my car payment, insurance and my portion of rent for the next few months. It's about $1100 a month altogether. Folks have suggested me selling my vehicle, and to use a bus. However, with my husband's crazy work schedule and all my appointments as well, he needs his vehicle for work, and I need mine for my appointments. I cannot physically walk to and sit at a bus stop and I don't have a way to get to and from them.

We can also use help with grocery store gift cards (Kroger, Walmart, Sam's Club), and DoorDash for days that my husband is working and I can't physically stand to make myself something to eat. We use several food banks, but usually only have vegetables to offer or things I'm not allowed to have because of my diabetes. Or, we can't make it to the food pantry because of his work schedule.

If anyone is able to help us out, we greatly appreciate it. Please share this and my story. I'm always happy to show receipts of where the money is going. I wanted to start this off with a $10,000 to help us for nearly a year. With my appeal being filed for SSD, my attorney said it could take up to 8 months, and if I have to go before a judge, 18 months. This is a really dark time in our lives and feel like we've lost hope. We're on the verge of losing everything! Please help if you can. And if you can't, please share me out! And also, as always, please keep us in your prayers daily if you think of us. Much love to you all! Thank you!
