URGENT HELP NEEDED - R2R at Imminent Risk of Closing Down

It all started when my beloved cat Tina died. A sweet and shy tuxedo girl, Tina had been my closest companion, by my side for nearly 10 years. After the initial heartbreak, I needed to find meaning and to make something of my grief, which is how I started volunteering with Rags to Riches Cat Rescue.

I have come to love this cat rescue with all of my heart. A safe haven for cats that have been dumped and abandoned in the countryside, Tammy and her team work tirelessly to ensure that all cats in their care are safe, fed, and loved. This year alone, we have had over 75 cats adopted through their care. Cats who otherwise stood no chance to make it on their own in a countryside rampant with coyotes. Cats who had been abandoned by those they thought loved them, but had been left to die.

Tragically, now these cats are at imminent risk again. A disgruntled person has called animal welfare, and the team at R2R has been told that the rescue needs to find or build a larger facility immediately, or they will be forced to permanently shut their doors. This means that all 200+ cats will be taken from their care. What will become of these cats? We don't know, but we are truly afraid for their wellbeing.

We are URGENTLY asking for your support in raising vital funds for our rescue. The current shelter cost $65,000 to build, so that’s what we’re estimating for the new building. Tammy and her husband invested that money themselves to build their current shelter, upgrading their newly built 30” x 30” outbuilding that was intended to be their garage to instead house the overwhelming amount of abandoned cats she encountered. They installed an overhead heat system, spray foam insulated, ran lines for water, purchased a water heater, installed a ventilation system, upgraded it, and we are now being told by PAWS that it is not adequate enough, and a secondary quarantine building is required.
