UPDATE: My new emergency move date is April 18th.

I am reaching out for emergency help as I face a major transition in my life. My birthday is on the 31st, and all I am asking for is help getting out of Florida, so I started this fundraiser in hopes of getting assistance in a very scary time of my life. Living in Florida has become increasingly difficult due to my ongoing health issues, difficulty in finding a second or even better-paying job, and the high cost of living. I have been job searching with assistance from many friends and peers for about a year and have lost hours at my current job, which has left me unable to accrue a stable savings, and all my current savings have been drained to pay rent or for medical expenses. The climate here makes my health worse, and as an LGBTQ person, I feel unsafe with the current political climate in Florida as well. Despite my best efforts, my savings have been depleted by frequent illness due to severe stress and flare-ups and missed work, and I have struggled to find a better-paying job or even a second job in a tough job market.

I have an opportunity to move to Michigan, where I will have better access to healthcare and a new job that will pay for the program I want to pursue. This move is essential for my well-being and future stability. The funds I am hoping to raise will go directly toward moving costs like a truck and gas, medical expenses, housing costs such as a security deposit and first month’s rent, getting out of a lease if needed, and a small cushion to help me get by until I start my new job. The expected moving date could be towards the end of July 2026, but could be moved up to as soon as April or May depending on circumstances. The current timeline is looking sooner rather than later, and I am trying to be as prepared as I can be.

Right now I am treating this as an emergency since I can no longer afford to live where I live on top of all my other bills and medications I have to take and could possibly risk having to break my lease with penalties or risk eviction and complete job loss which all risk my ability for a new place and start in Michigan.

I have exhausted all of my options and am too exhausted and sick to do much else. Moving states will get me to a better place financially and health-wise. I really appreciate any help and am very thankful for it. I know times are hard for everyone, but a little goes a long way, and I will take any help I can get to have a better life for myself.
