Recently, my management team's negligence at one job cost me my contract at another. I have been juggling multiple jobs and stages for years as I've been looking for any kind of full time and stable work, but as we all know the job market is broken right now. Usually I can just try and pick up hours to make up for any gaps, but this one I can't. This one was a big hit, and I was budgeting around an entire pre-guaranteed amount that I have absolutely no way of making up on my own. I've done the math, and with just the GUARANTEED shows left on my lost contract, I would have been making at least $1650. But there were unconfirmed shows waiting to be booked as well, so we can only assume some of those would have also been scheduled and paid out.
I am doing everything I can to figure this out, but at the end of the day? A big company screwing over their hourly employees is a drop in the bucket. To the job that was negligent and cost me work? It's not a big enough amount to legally do anything about. My manager may get a slap on the wrist, or nothing at all to be honest. Nothing there will change. I have no way to fix it. But for me, the amount is big enough that I could lose my car, my home, my utilities ... any of it. All of it.
I know these corporations don't care about us. I know they don't care if we live or die. I just hate how often they keep proving it to us. So ... here I am again. Begging for any little bit of help.
