Urgent: Help Myanmar Earthquake Survivors Rebuild
I am a graduate student at the University of Georgia with a background in public health in Myanmar. Now, I am fundraising to support ground organizations providing emergency aid to communities affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar.
A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar’s central region at approximately 1:30 pm local time on March 28, 2025. The epicenter was near Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city. The earthquake has affected hundreds of thousands of people, causing widespread damage to homes, religious buildings, and essential infrastructure, including roads.
As of March 29, 2025, at 8 PM local time, the reported casualties from the Myanmar earthquake are as follows: 1,644 dead, 3,408 injured, and 139 missing, according to Myanmar Now News.
While reliable projections on the full impact are still unavailable, early estimates from local communities suggest that the death toll could reach into the hundreds, with thousands more injured. Entire communities have been left in ruins. This disaster could prove to be one of the worst in Myanmar’s history, which has already been grappling with the consequences of armed conflict, an economic crisis, and inflation exceeding 300% since 2021.
In the face of this catastrophe, there is an urgent need for humanitarian assistance to provide lifesaving services, including emergency trauma care and basic necessities such as food and shelter.
Your financial support is critical to meet these needs and provide relief to those affected.
We urgently need funds for the following humanitarian aid efforts:
✅ Emergency food and clean water for displaced families
✅ Medical care and supplies for the injured
✅ Temporary shelter, blankets, and clothing for those who have lost their homes
✅ Rebuilding efforts to help communities recover and rebuild their lives
These funds will be managed by Lincoln Scholars studying graduate-level programs at universities across the United States.
The funds will go directly to medical personnel and local community groups already working on the ground in Mandalay and other affected areas. Your generosity will help save lives and provide essential support during this critical time.
