URGENT: Help Me with medical cost and Secure Safe Housing – Extended Deadline September 12, 2025
About Me & Why I’m Fundraising
Hi, my name is Audrey Lynn. I never imagined I’d be in this position, but today, I’m asking for your help.
I am a Black, transgender Afro-Latina woman of color. For over 10 years, I’ve poured my heart into grassroots community service — doing health education, HIV/STI testing, linking people to care, and completing multiple Department of Health trainings to support our community.
I’ve worked with organizations like GMHC, Housing Works, Ryan Health Center, and The Door, always showing up for LGBTQ+ folks, sex workers, and those most at risk. Recently, I also began serving the elderly and disabled population through my role with New Jersey Transit Access Link. Service has always been at the center of my life.
I started this journey young, learning from leaders such as Daniella, Luna, Chris, Lee, Angel, Lynnette, Johnny, Alberto, Jamar, and many more — but often without my own voice. Over the years, I embraced my truth as a trans woman, overcame the struggles of being undocumented, and continued serving my community even while enduring survival sex work. My story is one of resilience — but resilience alone cannot keep me housed.
⏳ What I’m Up Against
After three years of waiting, I was selected for a rare affordable housing lottery unit through NYC Housing Connect. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to secure safe, stable housing near my school, doctors, and community.
However, due to bureaucratic delays, my housing voucher is still in limbo. Following their instructions, I ended my lease early to prepare for the move — leaving me at risk of homelessness while I am currently recovering from major surgery.
Since July 21, I have sent over 130 emails fighting for my case. I’ve pushed back against a system designed to fail Black trans women like me. Through this advocacy, I got my application deadline extended — first from August 15, then to August 29.
☀️Update (August 29): Thanks to continued advocacy and support, building management has now granted me an extension until September 12, 2025 at 10 AM to give more time for my case to be processed. This buys me a little more time, but I still need to raise the full amount to secure this housing.
As of today, I have raised $6,757 out of my $7,500 goal.
What Your Donation Supports
My original “GoFundMe” dream goal was $6,000 — the amount needed for my first month’s rent and security deposit. But as expenses have become clearer, my updated goal of $7,500 also accounts for moving costs and urgent post-surgical needs.
Every dollar will go directly toward:
• ✅ Security deposit & first month’s rent
• ✅ Moving costs (truck & supplies)
• ✅ Post-surgery recovery items (medical supplies, medication, etc.)
I am contributing what I can from my paychecks, but I cannot reach this goal alone.
☀️How You Can Help
• Donate what you can — even $5 makes a difference
• Share this campaign with friends, coworkers, and on social media
• Send prayers, love, and encouragement as I recover from surgery and fight for stability
This is not just about me — it’s about investing in someone who has spent her life investing in others. I have given back to my community, advocated at the steps of Albany with groups like DecrimNY, and stood beside the most vulnerable. Now I am asking for that love and solidarity in return.
☀️ Final Words
At a time when my rights as a trans woman are being undermined, when my citizenship feels at risk, and when the possibility of losing housing threatens everything I’ve worked so hard to build — I am asking you to stand with me.
I don’t want to remain a survivor. I want to be a thriver. With your help, I can take this next step toward safety, stability, and a future where I continue serving my community from a place of strength.
Every donation, large or small, brings me closer to this dream. Thank you for supporting me.
With all my heart and gratitude,
Audrey Lynn ☀️
Disclaimer: Any additional funds raised beyond the $6,000 goal will go toward moving costs, furniture, medical bills, and post-surgical needs such as medications and recovery essentials.
