Hi, I’m Carrie, I'm a veteran with PTSD, the mother of a magical daughter, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. I’ve been struggling with pride for a long time and now, I find myself needing help more than ever. On MAY 12TH, 2025, I will lose my daughter’s home (she’s 16) —the home my mother left her when she passed away. It was meant to be her safe place, but instead, it has turned into a nightmare.

Before my mom passed away, I never thought I’d be able to give my daughter a home of her own, we discussed this together and decided that when she passed it would be amazing for her to leave it to my kiddo instead of me. And I thought we had a chance to build a future for her here. Sadly, things have taken a turn for the worse. The house has fallen behind on property taxes—some of the debt is my fault, some happened before my daughter even inherited it.

UPDATE: Rice County has been very gracious in doing everything they can to help me get through this situation.

I am absolutely at a loss. I have no family to turn to, no one who can lend a hand. My credit is a mess because of past poor decisions, and I can’t secure a loan. The VA attorneys can’t help because the house is not in my name.

I’m doing everything I can to keep my daughter from losing her home. I will never forgive myself if I fail her, and I can’t bear the thought of her losing her future. To make matters more complicated, we have three dogs—two of whom have special needs and couldn’t adapt to another home. They are part of our family, and losing them along with everything else would be life shattering.

That’s where I need your help. I’m asking for your support in saving my daughter’s home. It's heartbreaking to me to have served for nearly a decade and now be facing homelessness for my girl. Any donations, big or small, will go directly to paying off the property taxes and securing a future for my daughter in the home that was meant to be hers.
