Hi, I’m reaching out today because I need your help. Disaster has struck the United States, and an era of anger, demagoguery, and political violence threatens to unshackle the last remnants of stability and cohesiveness this country possesses.

And, at the heart of this upheaval, are people. I am unlucky enough to count myself among the number of people who are facing disproportionate hate and discrimination, and without your help, the situation will continue to unravel around me.

The rising tide of anti-trans legislation and political violence has made it unsafe for me to remain in my home in Kansas City. For my physical safety and mental well-being, I have to make the difficult decision to move, find a new community, and restart my life in a place where I can be safe.

This isn’t the first time I've had to fight for my survival. My life has been a series of battles: I emancipated myself from an abusive home at 15, have survived three separate instances of homelessness, and have faced down slurs and slander for my identity. I have always found a way through, but the current wave of laws designed to erase trans people from public life is a storm I cannot weather alone.

My ability to access gender-affirming care, to be safe in my community, and to simply exist as myself is under direct threat. I cannot build a future here any longer.

• Moving Expenses: Cost of packing & traveling to a safer state = $2,500

• Continuing Education: Help to find and enroll in new school programs so I don't have to abandon my goals = $1,000

I am starting at 14k with incremental increases. If I exceed the total goal, I will donate the rest of the funds to a trans-specific charity or mutual aid fund assisting people with similar issues.
