Hello, my name is Michele Perry, and I am asking for help during one of the hardest moments of my life.

My father, Robert Philippon, has suddenly become critically ill. In just a short time his health has declined frighteningly fast. He has been diagnosed with small cell bronchiogenic lung cancer, renal cancer, bladder stones, and diverticulitis. The diverticulitis caused a bowel perforation, which is life-threatening and what doctors say is now killing him. His condition is progressing very rapidly, and I only have a short window left to see him.

I live almost 3,000 miles away. I haven’t seen my dad in 17 years, and I desperately want the chance to be by his side, hold his hand, and say goodbye before it’s too late.

Adding to the heartbreak, his wife — my stepmother, Susan Philippon — has been fighting her own cancer battle for six years. The family is overwhelmed physically, emotionally, and financially.

I’m asking for help to cover emergency travel costs so I can get to him as soon as possible. This includes last-minute airfare, a short stay near the hospital, transportation, and any unexpected expenses. I am unable to come up with this kind of money on my own as I am the sole income provider my family of 3. My husband is disabled and receives no benefits. Our son is his full time caregiver so I can continue working.
