As many of you may know, our dear friend Leyzer experienced a series of serious injuries in a confrontation with some Nazi punks in May 2023. Her skull was broken, she got a traumatic brain injury, and two of her front teeth were knocked in. She continues to experience extremely severe pain and post concussive symptoms including severe light sensitivity, memory loss, and difficulty eating.

After five surgeries in under two years, including a bone graft in her skull and several implant procedures, Leyzer was supposed to have finally reached the end of this long and painful process and get to keep her beautiful new teeth. However, over the last month, pain in her skull surrounding the implants returned. A visit with her dentist confirmed that her implants have destabilized and the bone graft surrounding them has been damaged. Now she's back to square one and must undergo the whole process of surgeries and healing a second time.

Leyzer will have to get her new teeth extracted, a new bone graft, and new implants: more painful surgeries that need to be paid out of pocket as insurance doesn't cover them. Leyzer has been unable to work and have consistent income over the past two years because of the severity of her injuries and has struggled to maintain stable housing. With the help of community, Leyzer’s initial surgeries were covered through crowdfunding and we were able to provide her some relief. Now, we are asking again for friends near and far to dig deep and share the burden of this emotionally and financially devastating situation.

Several loving, awesome, broke as fuck transgender friends have maxed out their credit cards to cover the obscene initial costs so that Leyzer can get this surgery urgently. We are fundraising to recoup these costs with urgency, as well as covering the remainder due this week, and the subsequent surgeries that will be scheduled in a few months time. This is a huge amount of money for anyone to pay alone, but if everyone shares what they can, it can go a long way. A breakdown of costs is listed below.

She dedicates herself to so many projects that sustain our local communities and the broader webs in which she weaves.
