Hi friends. We need help — and we need it fast.
We’re behind on rent, and we have until Dec 22 to pay the late amount before eviction proceedings begin.
Over the past few months, we've been operating at a deficit despite doing everything we can to stay afloat. We're a queer, disabled household, and we're currently dealing with medical fallout plus bureaucratic nonsense:
  • I'm blind and working to get Social Security back on track.
  • Over the summer, Jack was injured in two separate work accidents, which forced him onto short-term disability (loss of pay).
  • After that, he needed FMLA to manage ongoing issues from those injuries. That's necessary for his recovery, but it further reduced already-tight paychecks.
  • As a result, he now gets fewer hours overall (no more long-haul trips), which lowers our income for the foreseeable future.
We've been scraping by for months, falling further behind despite cutting everything we can. Now it's reached a breaking point.
What we need
  • $600 — covers late rent and helps stop eviction proceedings
  • $800 — keeps utilities on and our elderly animals fed and cared for (including my retiring guide dog)
  • $1,000 — covers the above plus feeds and cares for the humans (groceries for Christmas)
  • Anything beyond that helps rebuild even a small buffer so we're not right back here next month while we wait for Social Security to come through or for Jack to secure better-paying work.
We're not asking lightly. We've exhausted our options. This is about keeping a roof over our heads and caring for our animals while we push through a rough stretch that we know isn't permanent.
If you can donate — thank you.
If you can't, sharing this matters just as much.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping us get through this. We love you.
