Hi, my name is Wendy Bialek and I am humbly and gratefully here to ask for help with our housing and medical bills for my family.
My husband underwent a spinal fusion surgery on August 9th. Initially, he seemed to recover well, but three days post-surgery, he experienced severe complications with unbearable pain and he could barely walk, which required an ER visit.
After further examination, we discovered the first surgery had to be redone (all new hardware)and that he also had fractured sacral bone( not sure how), leading to a second 7.5 hr surgery. Following this, he required 24-hour care in a rehab facility for 2 months, but more issues arose even while there, resulting in additional pain, infections and complications. Continued Hematurria with blood clots that has now lasted several weeks. Add to that a bladder issue arose as a result of the surgeries. A 3rd surgery took place. Every week since, he has been bleeding and passing blood clots and unable to urinate on and off. As I am writing this we are in the ER again for a second time this week. Complications seem never ending. I have been taking care of him and my Autistic son and working as much as possible and it has been challenging and tiresome, but I continue to keep my head up. He is a real estate agent and has had minor income for 4 months and is still not working. I work, but I do not make nearly enough to pay our bills and I have had to go many days without pay during this journey, that still continues. Thankfully, my employer has been understanding and I still have my position.
We’re severely struggling to manage our growing medical and housing expenses during this challenging time and would greatly appreciate any support you can provide. It is completely OK if you cannot contribute, we understand!! Every bit helps! Just today he is having a fourth surgery!! Scar tissue formed and catheter could not be inserted, so a surgery to remove some of the tissue. Lee was still bleeding from his bladder and he had a 5th surgery to cauterize his bladder. Will update as things progress. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
With love, Wendy, Lee and Zack.
