Hello,

I'm UB, a gay man from America with other protected statuses. I am fundraising because, unfortunately, when I came out three years ago I lost access to employment and housing. For the past three years, I have been improvisationally scraping by, but for the past six months I have been unable to receive employment of any kind, despite my MFA from an ivy league school and my employment history as a professor and working in academic spaces and publishing.

I have no money left for food or housing and have already spent much of the past three years sick and intermittently homeless—including during periods of time when I was having difficulty walking or breathing. I have not had access to medical care throughout my life because of my class background in America, so I don't know why I am having these health issues.

My friend in Paris is trying to establish me there because I need to see a doctor for these unaddressed medical issues and Paris is one of the only places where I have any support system. I am fundraising for the cost of a plane ticket there and about a month or two of housing in the hopes that I can track into other infrastructure and work in that period of time.
