Hello! This is Tracy Lystra with Saving Huey Foundation. Some of you know me from the documentary LiveLoveDogs, others may know me for the work I do with abused animals. Regardless of how you’ve come to know me, I urgently need your help. Please take a moment and read about what is happening to a very special friend of mine.

If you know my work then you have undoubtedly heard the names Yuya and Yuyo Duran. These two amazing humans are my right hand when it comes to Mexico cases. They have helped not only me, but so many other rescues, save thousands upon thousands of lives. I met these two 12 long years ago, and they have become family.

A few years ago, I learned that Yuyo was struggling with Diabetes. While he has been in and out of hospitals for his condition, this time things have taken a serious turn. Yuyo has an ulcerated wound on his right foot that doctor’s feel can no longer be saved. After days of hospitalization, my brave friend has elected to have his foot amputated. The doctor’s feel that this option will end Yuyo’s suffering and allow him to live pain free, something he hasn’t been able to do for years.

Yuyo is currently hospitalized in Chula Vista, CA. It is here that the amputation will take place. Post amputation, Yuyo will be sent to a recovery center where he will learn to use a prosthetic foot. When all is said and done, it appears as if Yuyo is looking at a 3 month stay in the States.

So how can we help? Yuya and Yuyo live in Tijuana. They have numerous foster pups that they are working with. While Yuyo is away, Yuya is trying to keep up with the care of pups, including medical visits, and the normal transports that Yuyo does. At this time, I truly believe that Yuya should be with Yuyo, at least part of the time. In order to make that happen, we need to raise $3360. I came up with this number by multiplying the days that Yuyo will be gone (approximately 90) by $40, what they normally pay for a day’s worth of help. Pablo, who lives with Yuya and Yuyo

does an amazing job of helping, however without Yuyo or Yuya there, he will need an additional person to help him.
