Urgent Help for Tess Sparrow's Family After Fire
Donation protected
Hey Everyone!
I am writing this hoping to help a co-worker of mine deal with a devastating loss that has occurred for her and her two children. On Monday March 24 at 6:00am, my co-worker, Tess Sparrow was awaken by her cat meowing at the door. When she opened her eyes, she could barely see as her room was smoke filled and dark. Coughing; she grabbed her shoes and phone and ran went downstairs to wake and grab her two children (one is currently in high school and the other just graduated last year and starts college in August 2025), 6 cats, and two dogs to evacuate. She didnt even grab her purse! The fire department arrived quickly while they were still evacuating all the pets.
This was very unexpected and the house that she lived in is a loss. The house where she was staying was not insured and she did not have renters' insurance. She is able to salvage her clothing, towels and wash rags, and some personal items and is working on going through kitchen wares and other things (these items were all in a part of the house that were not affected by the fire). Mostly her bedroom upstairs and the attic was a total loss. The kitchen and living room all have smoke and water damage and she is working on seeing what she needs and what is able to be saved. Her pets are safe and are in a safe location. She has incurred a lot of expenses and is currently renting a room by the week for her and her kids to stay in until she can find a permanent or short-term rental. Of course, good places are hard to find and the housing and renters' market is tough. She has a couple of leads on places that are available at the beginning of May, but until then has no permanent place to stay.
We have created this GoFundMe to help with her expenses as she has to pay for a weekly room (which is WAAAYY more expensive than monthly rent), she also has to buy food for her and her children, as well as do laundry at the laundromat. Also, she will need a deposit and first month's rent. She works two jobs and is doing everything she can to meet these expenses, but this much all at one time would be tough for any of us. There are some things that she will need once she has her place, but right now the main need is cash to pay for the weeks room and food, and to save up for the deposit and monthly rent payment for the permanent place. I know many will reach out and asked what is needed. Right now...cash...BUT once she has finished going through things and we have her rental secured, I can provide a list of tangible things needed.
If you have questions, you can reach out to me by clicking the contact button or Rikki Vickers...both of us work with Tess at Pizza Inn and can answer any questions you may have!
Please consider giving to help out Tess and her children during this time...any amount...no matter the amount will be helpful!
