Hi, we are Emilia and Paula, and we are raising funds to help our friend Stu. Stu is a 58-year-old man who has been experiencing homelessness in Chicago since 2009. We met him several months ago, and it quickly became clear that he is a kind, thoughtful person living with serious medical and mental health challenges that make surviving on the streets especially dangerous.
Both of us have coordinated in order to help Stu with food, clothing, and basic care. Despite our efforts, his situation has reached a critical point. Stu is in constant pain, has very limited medical oversight, and recently lost all of his belongings, including his identification and documents, when his tent was destroyed during a city sweep. Without these documents, Stu cannot access medical care, benefits, or housing services. We are actively working with a local outreach organization to get him medical evaluations and connected to longer-term support, but immediate resources are urgently needed.
Stu is sober and motivated to accept help. His medical needs, lack of documentation, and vulnerability mean that time truly matters. Funds raised will be used immediately for:
- Food and basic necessities
- Transportation to medical appointments and agencies
- Replacing lost identification and documents
- Medical visits, prescriptions, and follow-up care
- Any steps to assist Stu getting off the streets.
We will manage all funds personally and provide regular updates. This GoFundMe is intended to bridge the gap between survival and stability while we work to get Stu the care and support he needs. If you're unable to donate, please share!
