Hi, my name is Melissa, and I work in education in Manchester, NH. I’m raising funds to help one of my students who has unexpectedly become homeless and is desperately trying to keep her dog safe.

This student just turned 18 and has no family support. She is overwhelmed, scared, and trying to navigate sudden homelessness — but the thing causing her the most distress is the thought of losing her dog. Her 6-year-old red-nosed pitbull is her world. This dog is her emotional anchor, her comfort, and the one constant presence she’s had through years of instability.

The idea of surrendering her dog sends her into hysterics. She has said that losing her dog would break her far more than sleeping outside ever could. So before we can get her into stable housing or shelter programs, we must first make sure her dog is safe.

Right now, the dog needs:

Updated vaccinations (she cannot be boarded or placed with a foster without them)

A vet exam for a skin condition

Food, supplies, and medications

Temporary boarding or a short-term foster placement while we secure appropriate housing resources for the student

This is an urgent, time-sensitive situation. We’re doing everything we can to make sure this young woman does not have to choose between homelessness and losing her only source of emotional support.

⭐ Why We’re Asking for $2,000

We want to be completely transparent about how funds will be used. This amount covers:

7–14 days of emergency boarding while her housing is secured

Required vaccines (rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella)

A vet exam and treatment for her skin condition

Food, medications, and basic supplies

A small buffer in case housing takes longer or unexpected costs come up

Every dollar raised will go directly toward keeping this sweet dog safe, healthy, and cared for so her owner can accept help without the fear of losing the one soul she loves most.

⭐ About the Dog

She is a 6-year-old red-nosed pitbull, unbelievably gentle, calm, and loving. She sits quietly, leans in for comfort, and wants nothing more than to stay close to her person. She has a skin issue that needs to be evaluated, but her temperament is perfect — she is genuinely a sweetheart.

⭐ How You Can Help

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any help you’re able to give.
Your kindness truly can change the entire trajectory of a young person’s life — and keep her beloved companion safe.

❤️ Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
