Shawn is a disabled single father/stepfather to four (two adult women who are out of the house, a 14 year old boy, and a 10 year old girl). He had a spinal fusion surgery performed after a work-related injury over 20 years ago and they recently found a non-cancerous tumor in his brain that causes debilitating migraines and nosebleeds. Shawn is unable to work and Social Security checks only go so far. His ex partner deactivated the grocery card that he uses to feed their children and himself and he's waiting for his new card to come in the mail. Family has been able to assist with groceries, but there is also a substantial balance due for the electricity bill. Shawn pays as much as he can on it with the money he has and he's working to get assistance for that balance, but the electric company has limited funds to help him and countless other people in the same situation. They are trying to assist him as much as possible but told him they will be turning his power off on 6/22 unless his balance is paid. The money raised will go towards Shawn's electric bill, his overdraft bank account, and getting him back on his feet to support the two children at home with him.
