My name is Sarah. I am the mom of 3 amazing kids. My son is 18, a full-time athlete and student, my daughter is 17 and a junior, and the one who keeps us all on our toes, haha, she is 4 1/2! I work in special education. In June 2025, I reported mold with high humidity and no visible leaks. My apartment manager stated she knows mold and that's not it. Fast forward to October, our home was considered a health and safety hazard. We were given 10 minutes to pack bags. I was told 2 weeks max. That was over 3 months ago. I have continued to pay rent for our home, I have no lease violations, and zero unpaid rent. It has been my home for 17 years.
In October, I sold my vehicle to put something into my pocket, realizing something seemed off. It wasn't worth much, but it was still my car.
We have been living in a motel that is provided by the management company. It is a motel; we have no kitchen. We have been living off of microwave canned food, fast food, and restaurant food for over 3 months.
We have lost everything with no end in sight. I have retained an attorney for the habitability issue, but that is a long process. Nothing will be resolved before a year or more, I was told.
I have never created any type of fundraising link, especially because I really pride myself on not asking for help; however, I am coming to anyone who has just an ounce of compassion to please help my kids and me. I am financially tapped out with the cost of fast food, buying clothing and shoes, and hygiene products.
And to top it all off, last Sunday, my two older children were in a horrible car accident going to get fast food for dinner. A man ran a red light and T-boned them, totaling the last car we owned.
It is the holidays; we spent Thanksgiving eating Jack in the Box. Christmas is around the corner. If anyone can find it in their hearts to contribute and donate, I would be one extremely thankful mama. Thank you for taking the time to read my small synopsis of everything.
