Urgent Help for Rent and Bills During Recovery
Donation protected
On my first day heading to my new dream job after 5 months unemployed, disaster struck. Walking down the same stairs I've walked down thousands of times, my knee locked and I fell. I came to a few seconds later face down on my lobby floor and my knee exploding in pain. I screamed for help on the 20-degree lobby floor because it was impossible to reach my cellphone. Thankfully, neighbors heard my call and were able to get me rushed to the hospital, where it was diagnosed that I had burst my right knee tendon and would need surgery and a hefty 3-6 month recovery period until my knee was whole.
Unfortunately, unemployment will not get extended (currently on the last week) and the job offer had to be rescinded... they just couldn't logistically support someone fully remote for that amount of time. The devastation of receiving the "offer rescinded" notice is still running through me now as I type this.
I'm now currently a full month behind on rent and threatening to dip into my 2nd month. My savings are completely dried up and I've got surgery scheduled in February with no idea of how I'm going to last that long fiscally. My last option is to overdraw my bank account significantly, but that will still only lend me another week or two, tops, of breathing room.
I hate asking for help... but am not afraid to. I don't get embarrassed and was raised being told that a closed mouth does not get fed. I'm asking, begging, for help now. I'm hoping to raise $6000 to cover 3 months of rent and bills/food as well as a couple of quality of life items that will assist me to live on one leg for a couple of months while I recover. My insurance, thankfully, has the surgery covered along with transportation assistance to my appointments. Now, I'm praying that the grace of God has me covered on the living expenses.
I've recruited for 15+ years and would be more than willing to offer resume tailoring and interview coaching tips to any that need it - I don't want a handout... but I just need some help. I'd also gladly take any referrals for fully-remote work in either Recruiting or Customer Service.
Thank you for your attention and any care/help that you can lend. Please feel free to share this with anyone you think can help as well. Be blessed and, again, thank you for your time.
