Updated version of Reem's situation published on March 27th 2025.

To Our Supporters and Loved Ones

As this relentless war continues to tear our lives apart day by day, our struggles only grow more severe. Prices have skyrocketed, distances between us make survival even harder, and the little money we receive barely covers the most basic necessity—food to keep us from starving. Because of this, my sister and brother have decided to create their own separate campaigns to support their families and children, including Samira and Ilham.

The situation worsens with each passing day, and every family is doing its best to endure. However, this campaign will remain active to support my family, as well as Nana and Mohamed. Our need is still urgent, and our suffering is far from over. We still hold onto the hope that one day, we will gather enough to escape to a safer place where our children will no longer live under constant threat of hunger, fear, and death. And with your support, we will be able to do that, we will be able to reach saftey.

We simply wanted to share this with you because you have always been our backbone, standing by us in our darkest times. You deserve full transparency. Your unwavering support gives us the strength to survive this devastation and helps our children hold on in the face of merciless extermination.

Thank you to every hand that reached out to help us and to everyone who made us feel that we are not alone in this hardship!

The following is the original story published upon the start of this campaign back in August 2024 written by Reem's mother - Elham.

My name is Elham and my family and I were displaced from north of Gaza to the south, making us in dire need of financial assistance. We are currently a family of 15 living together due to the circumstances of the war. Before the October 7, 2023 catastrophe, my family and I were living a happy and dignified life. The house was filled with happiness and stability. My husband Sami had a job with a fixed income every month, enough for us to enjoy raising our children in the beautiful places that were destroyed in Gaza. We loved life very much. We ate and drank clean water, wore beautiful clothes, and lived in a safe house. But everything has become a thing of the past. We dream that this life will return. We are optimistic about enjoying the negotiations that take place and fail, but unfortunately, there are massacres after massacres. Unfortunately, every morning, I open a piece of the tent cloth that covers us and does not protect us from the temperature of the outside world, which is filled with pollution and diseases. I see the crowding of displaced people on the water truck to get some water. My daughter was afflicted with some diseases, and she did not receive immediate treatment. This is a painful scenario. I see it every morning and I fear that one day I will not find a water truck or a medical point that treats patients, so I hope that those with merciful hearts will look into my situation and help me cover our basic and necessary needs, including our monthly expenses. Due to the harsh conditions, my husband has become unemployed and is unable to collect money, food, or cover the children’s needs and the deficiencies that have become few and far between in our lives. And because we lost our home that was destroyed by the occupation, we do not have clothes, bedding, or cooking utensils, and we need money to buy them urgently.

Hello my name is Jonas Fornaro. Recently I have been in contact with Reem from the Al-Hussary family in Gaza through social media. Reem is 18 years old, a student who dreams of finishing High School and one day becoming a doctor. Reem loves her family very much but the war has threatened to destroy her and her family's future. There are 15 people total. Reem lives with her Mother Elham, her Father Sami, her 6 siblings (Hind, Ola, Ahmed, Basant, Lian, Abdul Rahman) and the family also has 6 grandkids. Samira, Sanaa, Mounes, Majd, Mohammed and Elham who is only 3 months old. This family is in desperate need of basic essentials for living which are very hard to get and very expensive. Please consider donating to help this precious family survive and keep hope alive for their futures. ❤️
