Hi friends,

I’m reaching out because we’ve exhausted every other option. Tony and I have contacted every rent assistance program available in Omaha, but so far, no help has come through. We are down to the wire and desperately trying to keep our home.

We currently owe $1,250 in rent. I am not asking for that full amount—our landlord has been understanding and is willing to work with us. I’m only hoping to raise $250 to help us bridge the gap until we can pay her ourselves.

Here’s our plan:

• I’ve just been hired at the JCPenney photo studio.

• Tony has an interview today for a position at Popeyes.

• On August 29, we will be able to pay $450 toward what we owe.

• On September 3, we can pay another $675.

• At that point, we’ll only have the remaining balance for September to cover, and with our new jobs, we’ll be able to pay rent consistently every paycheck moving forward.

This $250 would mean the difference between satisfying our landlord now and risking eviction before our new income starts flowing in.

Update: We reached our original $250 goal, and I cannot thank you all enough. Your kindness gave Tony and me the breathing room we needed to keep our home secure for now.

Unfortunately, life threw us another curveball yesterday. Tony and I were in a car accident. We’re both okay, but we’re sore and shaken, and we’re missing work while we recover. With our paychecks now delayed, we’re facing another unexpected gap in covering rent and essentials.
