Well, this morning my mother died. So she is now on her journey to peace and rejoicing with my dad in pain-free happiness. My father died on June 7, 2024. Now my mother has passed on September 11, 2024. Unfortunately for me, neither had wills set in place or life insurance. My father‘s funeral was pretty expensive, and I made sure his services were about the cheapest route I could go for a burial. He was a veteran, so I was lucky enough to be able to have his vault, his plot, his headstone, and the actual burial fees covered by the VA. But unfortunately, I was still left with a pretty hefty bill. My dad’s funeral expenses I’ve been left with are close to $9,000. I had planned on using what money my dad had in his own separate bank account from my parents' joint account to pay for his funeral. Unfortunately, he never put my mom‘s name on his account, and to this day, we have not been able to get access. The state has also sent me a letter saying that my dad's assets will probably be taken for his medical expenses, which leaves me to figure out how to pay for those expenses for the funeral home.

My mother passed away this morning. Mitchell Funeral Home was called and asked to come get the body. My mom's wish was to be cremated, but I was told no, that they would not come and collect the body of my mother because of my dad’s unpaid funeral expenses. This has been a devastating blow to me. I am urgently trying to figure out now how to have my mom’s body transferred to a cremation house and pay for a cremation. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help with the cost of my father’s remaining funeral expenses and assist me today in being able to transfer my mom’s corpse to a cremation house to be cremated and put to rest.
