I am starting this GoFundMe for a dear friend of mine who was recently diagnosed with invasive high-grade carcinoma of the bladder. At just 36 years old, she has already dedicated her life to helping others as a registered nurse. She is also a loving single mother to two young boys who mean the world to her.
Unfortunately, her diagnosis has forced her to stop working in long-term care. The physical toll of the illness made it impossible for her to complete her shifts. Since this was a new job and she had not yet reached 90 days of employment, her health insurance had not started.
She has recently learned that she must begin treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Because she is uninsured, they require a $5,000 deposit just to begin her evaluation, set up her treatment plan, and start the first stages of care. This will be only the beginning of many expenses to come as she fights for her life and for her boys.
My friend has spent her career helping others in their most vulnerable moments—now she is the one in need. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the heavy burden she faces and bring her one step closer to recovery.
If you are unable to give, please consider sharing her story to help spread the word. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
Kristen’s mother Tracey will be managing all funds and will be setting up a special account for her. I just started the go fund me to get it started.
