Help My Dad Fight for His Life
My dad is the kind of man who always showed up, not just for me, but for everyone around him. He always made sure his family was always taken care of and worked hard his entire life to make sure his family never lacked love, support, or stability. He gave generously when he could, taught me to treat everyone with respect and dignity, and many priceless life lessons. He wasn’t perfect, but he always did his absolute best for the people he loved, and he did so with integrity, humility, and heart.
Today, at 59 years old, my dad is fighting the hardest battle of his life.
He lives in Valencia, Venezuela, where access to consistent medical care is extremely difficult. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Because of financial limitations and the instability in Venezuela, he pursued alternative medical treatment and hormone therapy instead of chemotherapy. Thankfully, he responded well and was stable for a time.
Unfortunately, as the situation in Venezuela worsened and costs became unmanageable, he quietly stopped treatment. He didn’t ask for help. He didn’t want to burden anyone.
As a result, his prostate began to enlarge and obstructed his urethra, making it extremely difficult and painful for him to urinate. This obstruction caused toxic waste to build up in his body, leading to severe kidney damage and eventual kidney failure.
He was rushed to the emergency room in unimaginable pain. During his hospitalization, multiple failed attempts to insert a catheter caused internal damage and constant bleeding. He spent over 30 days hospitalized, requiring dialysis and multiple blood transfusions, as doctors struggled to stop the bleeding.
Today, his kidneys are still failing.
He now requires dialysis three times a week just to stay alive. Each dialysis session costs $550, meaning over $6,000 per month, not including medications, follow-up care, or cancer treatment. We have restarted the hormone therapy that once helped him, and we are doing everything we can to cover his dialysis and medications, but the costs are overwhelming.
I love my dad unconditionally. He has always supported me emotionally and financially in every chapter of my life. He never hesitated to help me chase my dreams, even when it meant sacrificing his own comfort.
Now, I am asking for help so I can do the same for him.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
• Life-saving dialysis (3 times per week)
• Cancer treatment and medications
• Ongoing medical care and hospital services
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.
My only goal is to ensure my father receives the medical care he desperately needs, care that could stabilize his condition, give his kidneys a chance to recover, and give us more time together.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, caring, and helping my dad fight for his life.
