Hi, my name is Violet. I’m fundraising to support my father, Peter, and four younger brothers after a house fire overnight that destroyed everything they owned, except for the clothes they escaped in.
Our family home in Fiji — the place dad has lived in for 30 years and where all my siblings and I spent our early childhoods — has been completely lost. In Fiji, there is very limited government support for families affected by such events. This home was the only stability my dad and brothers had. Peter is elderly, diabetic, and without a stable income, making it extremely difficult for him to start again on his own while taking care of his four children, three of whom are under 12.
For now, they are staying with a neighbour, but this is only a temporary solution. Rebuilding is overwhelming. A modest three‑bedroom home in Fiji costs around $220,000 AUD (approximately $350,000 FJD) — an amount far beyond what our small family can gather quickly, especially while trying to ensure Peter and the boys have food, medication, and other basic essentials.
Any help is appreciated. A few Australian dollars can go a long way in Fiji, helping to buy basics like bread, milk, or bus fares.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give.
