My name is Kourtney and I’m raising funds for my mom, Leah, and step-dad, Walter, to help with vet bills for their sweet kitty named Mellow.

Mellow got his name from his chill personality. He is the sweetest cat I’ve ever met and didn’t deserve what has happened to him. He is under 2 years old and has his whole life ahead of him.

Mellow was gone for about 3 full days while it was storming outside, and when he finally returned home on Friday night, he was taken straight to the local emergency vet for what was thought to have been a badly broken leg. He got x-rays which showed that he was SHOT and his leg will not heal properly. He also has an infection in the wound and needs antibiotics.

This is a shock to all of us and as we all know, vet bills add up very quickly in situations like this. His leg is going to have to be amputated by an orthopedic veterinarian… (see update: they saved his leg!)

UPDATE (Saturday night): We noticed his temperature was elevated so he was taken to another emergency clinic in Fort Myers where he is spending the night. They are going to perform surgery on him in the morning and attempt to save the leg, although amputation is not off the table… all funds go directly to this costly surgery and we are so thankful for all the help we can get.

BIG UPDATE (Monday afternoon): I’m so happy to write that Mellow went through his surgery today and the veterinarian at Blue Pearl Pet Hospital was able to save his leg! He has a long road to recovery & will have to spend months in an empty room so he doesn’t have the ability to jump and injure himself while he is healing.
