Hi, my name is Mazhar Mahmood, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart but immense hope for a truly remarkable little girl. This is the story of 9-year-old Maryam Fatima, a child whose bravery in the face of an overwhelming challenge has inspired everyone who knows her.

Just a short while ago, Maryam’s life was turned upside down. After experiencing sudden seizures and weakness, her family received a devastating diagnosis: Maryam has a Grade 4 Astrocytoma, a highly aggressive and fast-growing brain tumour. The MRI scans you see below show the sheer size of the mass that was threatening her life.

Her loving parents, who live in Pakistan, have already sacrificed everything to save their daughter. Maryam has endured not one, but two complex and high-risk brain surgeries. The second surgery was so perilous that doctors gave her only a 5% chance of survival. But Maryam, with a strength that defies her age, miraculously pulled through. The photos of her in the hospital, with a bandage wrapped around her head, show a fighter who is not ready to give up.

But her battle is far from over.

While the surgeries were a critical first step, the fight against this aggressive cancer requires urgent and intensive follow-up treatment. Maryam’s doctors have prescribed a crucial treatment plan to give her the best possible chance at a future:

This treatment is her only hope, but the cost is far beyond her family's reach. They have completely exhausted their life savings and resources on the surgeries and initial hospitalization. Now, they are faced with an impossible situation: the path to save their daughter is clear, but they do not have the funds to take it.
