I’m writing this on behalf of Maria Amarosa, someone many of you know and love. She is the heart behind The Station, our local stylist/barber/design/vintage retail shop and hair studio — a place where people feel seen, welcomed, and at home. She has spent years pouring love, creativity, and comfort into this community, one client and one conversation at a time.

Now she needs the community she has always cared for to help her through an emergency.

This week, she discovered dangerously widespread toxic mold throughout her home. Not a small patch — the kind that spreads, destroys, and makes a house truly unsafe to live in. She had to leave immediately to protect her health and the health of her two dogs, who mean everything to her.

She contacted the Health Department, but she is now stuck waiting for them to come inspect the property so it can be officially declared uninhabitable. Until then, she cannot access emergency housing resources—and she has nowhere stable to stay.

As a single woman with pets, her options are extremely limited. She is doing everything right, following every step required of her, but the process is slow and she needs somewhere safe to stay right now. She is scared, overwhelmed, and trying to keep her dogs safe while also trying to keep her business afloat.

What These Funds Will Help With

All donations will go directly toward:

   •   Immediate temporary housing for her and her dogs

   •   Pet-friendly lodging or boarding fees

   •   Food, gas, and daily essentials during displacement

   •   Deposits or application fees once she can secure a safe long-term home

Why She Deserves This Support

She has always been the person who lifts others up — creating a warm haven through her shop, her chair, her kindness, and her huge heart. She has supported her community through hard times and good times. Now it’s our turn to support her.

This situation is urgent, and she cannot get through it alone.
