Hello, my name is Margie Grubbs.

I am disabled and I am also a Computer Science/American Sign Language dual major student at Finger Lakes Community College. I just finished my second semester. Just 3 days before Thanksgiving, my home was condemned because of water and mold damage. We lost everything inside the home because of the mold, and I had to move my family and my ESA dog and cat to a hotel in Farmington, New York. I have been trying to find another home, and I am not having any luck. I had been in my home since 2022 and had owned it for just a little over a year. I am about to run out of money for the hotel and do not know what else to do. I receive SSI and SSD, which is just a little over a $1,000.00 every month but that won't come through until January, and it costs a lot to stay in this hotel. No other hotels will take both of my animals; they will take either a dog or a cat, but not both. This is the only hotel I can find that will take both of them. I can't go to Social Services because they won't help with the animals. I am trying to find a 2-bedroom apartment for myself, my son, and his girlfriend. They lost their jobs when we had to leave the home and town, and they are also trying to find work. We do not have a vehicle either, so this is very hard. I am trying to find anything to keep us from being homeless. If we become homeless, it will affect everything. Can anyone PLEASE HELP?
