They arrived in America in 2022. They were granted legal entry into the country, where they obtained all the necessary documents for legal work and life.

Kseniia worked as a manicurist in Los Angeles, and Maksim earned various incomes. They had just begun a new life in a foreign country when, in February 2025, they were arrested by ICE without explanation and paperwork. Maksim was severely beaten by officers. He is being held with high-risk criminals in Adelanto, CA, while Kseniia is being held in Tacoma, WA.
