Hello, my name is Cassandra Suber, and I am reaching out with an urgent, desperate plea for my family, friends and the entire community in the Maggotty Development Area in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica. Hurricane Melissa, the strongest storm in Jamaica’s history, has devastated this community and many others. The damage is widespread and catastrophic.

Maggotty, Newton, Breadnut Valley and surrounding areas were devastated and families are now struggling for survival and face a long, expensive road to recovery. They need immediate support to secure temporary shelter, food, and the materials required to rebuild their lives.

For many families, their homes and all essential belongings are completely gone. The majority of other homes have suffered severe structural damage, including missing roofs, flooded interiors, and collapsed walls, making them unsafe and uninhabitable.

I'm organizing and managing this fundraiser from Charlotte, NC in the U.S. I'm in constant communication with my family who are assisting in coordinating the recovery efforts in Maggotty.

The funds will be used to purchase emergency kits of clean water, non-perishable food, temporary tarps, medical supplies, and basic hygiene kits (diapers, feminine products), building materials and other needed supplies.
