Urgent Help for Lori Cowan's Spinal Treatment
Donation protected
Our dear friend, Lori Cowan, is always the first to come to everyone's aid. As a dedicated and beloved elementary school teacher, she has helped so many young people learn and grow. Whenever you are feeling down, she is the first one to cheer you on, help try to raise your spirits, and help in any way she can.
She has been diagnosed with cervical myelopathy, a compression of the spinal cord in the neck. Not only can it be painful and cause uncontrolled "shocks" in your limbs, hands, and feet, but it also causes a gradual loss of motor skills and even the ability to walk.

The great news is there is surgery that helps to alleviate it and in some cases provide great improvement as well. The bad news is she is caught in a battle with the insurance companies between in-network and out-of-network providers that may delay her surgery for several weeks. Despite the warnings from her neurosurgeon about potential further damage that may not be recoverable, she is stuck waiting on an in-network provider.
As much as I am sure we would all like to solve the insurance issues for her, I don't think there is much we can do on that end. However, I know that we can help raise some funds for all the things she is going to need like PT, OT, walkers, shower chairs, and all the other odds and ends while she waits for the availability of an in-network provider.
Thank you for your help and consideration! Every little bit will be a huge help to Lori and her family during this very difficult time. Who knows? If we can raise enough money quickly enough, perhaps we can cover the additional out-of-network costs altogether!
Thank you again!
