- Hi. My name is Leslie Campilonga and I had been my Father's care giver for over 5 years. He passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2026 and I am completely devasted. He was 88. His social security paid for the big bills for the house and my salary paid for everything else. Since his unexpected passing, I find myself in some financial trouble. There are certain big bills that were supposed to be paid with his May social security check, When I called SS to find out what do to, I was advised that I am not even entitled to the lousy $250 death benefit because I am not a surviving spouse or a minor child. I was also advised that even though he was alive for the first 16 days of April, they do not pro-rate and therefore, I get nothing. He had no life insurance. I am in desperate need of about $2,800 to cover what needs to be paid in May while I downsize expenses so that I can handle it until I figure out what I am going to do. I'm asking for your help. No amount is too small and thank you in advance. I have raised my goal due to unexpected additional bills that I have recently discovered. I just need to get everything to a manageable amount so I can handle it on my own.
