Please help us survive an emergency
Our situation: we are two people in a queer partnership, currently struggling to make ends meet. I (Laz) suddenly lost my job without warning due to the company downsizing/closing. My partner (Holly) is disabled and their only income is commissions. They have been fighting for disability for the past six months (we recently retained an attorney for their case after a denial and are waiting to hear back on their first appeal.)
We have been surviving solely on my income, and while things were tight we had been making it work. Until yesterday. I was called after clocking out and told I was being let go. My boss then blocked me on everything and I doubt he will send my last paycheck. Currently we have only $1,200 to live on. Bills are due at the end and middle of the month, and almost all of what we have would be going to lot rent and utilities. I have been putting in apps for the past two weeks after discovering some unethical red flags at work but was not expecting this. I have an interview later this week.
To add to everything, our dog Gideon has developed a sudden case of hot spots (likely from weather/allergies - common for Golden Retrievers.) These have been treatable at home, but the constant discomfort and head shaking has caused a hematoma to develop in his ear that requires urgent vet attention. We have an appointment in two days (the soonest they could get us in.) He will likely need it drained, stitched, and a round of antibiotics and/or steroids to help with any infections.
It’s hard for us to ask for help, but we’ve found ourselves very suddenly in the red and at risk of losing everything. I’m terrified. Our security is suddenly gone, our immediate future is uncertain, and my dog (who is also my service dog!) is in rough shape. Any help is appreciated beyond words.
