Hi everyone,

We’re reaching out on behalf of our dear friend Laurasia, who is fighting to ensure proper care for her 88-year-old father.

Recently, her father suffered a terrible fall while staying in temporary Airbnb housing. Doctors believe he lay there for two days before being found, unable to move and in his own waste. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was treated for severe bronchitis, pneumonia, and sepsis caused by his fall, and age. After being stabilized, he was discharged to an unlicensed, low-budget care facility which is unfortunately the only option he can afford.

This facility is dangerously understaffed and neglects his basic needs. He has been repeatedly left in unsanitary conditions, only served fast food, and they've consistently missed critical medications. The door is always left open with the toxic air from the LA fires worsening his bronchitis and pneumonia symptoms. His facility has been in the red flag zone until recently. While he urgently needs better care, he is too fragile to move, and insurance assistance for a nicer assisted living facility is years away.

Since this injury and his decline, Laurasia has become his sole provider, with full power of attorney and medical directive. After learning of his hospitalization she immediately flew from Italy to Los Angeles and has been staying with friends all while advocating for his care. She is balancing his immediate needs with long-term plans to bring him with her to Italy, where he can live in safety and dignity.

We’re asking for your help to:

• Hire a private caregiver to provide the compassionate care he needs now.

• Cover damages from the Airbnb incident and related expenses.

• Support legal and immigration services to secure his medical permits for Italy.

This crisis has been emotionally and financially devastating, but Laurasia is determined to give her father the care he deserves. Your generosity will directly fund his safety, health, and a path to a better life.
