You may know me as Smol Bean but my name is Daisy, a friend of Kassidy and Robb, and I’m creating this GFM to help them get the financial support they need during a housing emergency + legal battle against their landlords who have created an unsafe environment caused by a chaotic maintenance project on the property and lead exposure.

The initial purpose of this fundraiser is to help them be able to stay in safe housing away from their lead exposed home and to pay a lawyer to fight the landlord(s).

What happened and the goals:

Kassidy and Robb moved into their home and two weeks later, a maintenance team came in and they cut a 2ftx 4ft hole into the wall with power tools and mallets. This construction sent lead dust and pieces of the plaster from the 1940s (with added suspicion that the home might be full of asbestos with no barriers.

Their landlords have been super neglectful about remedying this and acting as if it’s not serious whatsoever. Not only are the landlords not taking responsibility for the destruction and the exposure to toxic materials, they are trying to hold Kassidy and Robb liable for the damage caused by the landlord’s maintenance team.

The health department has told them they shouldn’t be in the home, but the landlord will not compensate them for the $100+ a day they are paying at the cheapest Airbnb they could find.

Kassidy and Robb also have three cats, which makes finding safe, temporary housing more difficult.

They are also needing to raise extra fine to pay for a lawyer to help them get out of this situation.

In addition to their living situation being at risk, there are major concerns about a lifetime of both their belongings and all of the food in the home being contaminated. All of their food and many of their belongings will likely have to be thrown away and attempted to replace. They also just spent thousands of dollars on deposits, first/last month rent, fees, and moving expenses.

So, while the current goal is to help them pay for emergency housing and a fee to get a lawyer on board, there may be additional expenses involved.
