Hi, my name is Kai, and I’m asking for help during a period where several major financial and medical hardships have collided at once.
Recently, I was in a car accident that resulted in approximately $3,500 in damages. My car is essential for getting to work and to frequent medical appointments, and without repairs, my ability to stay afloat financially is at risk.
At the same time, my health insurance unexpectedly changed this year from a platinum plan to a bronze plan despite my monthly premium increasing to $432.82. This new plan has a $6,650 deductible, a $7,400 out-of-pocket maximum, and coinsurance, which has made my medical care suddenly unaffordable.
In just the past few weeks alone, I’ve had:
- A neurology appointment costing $145
- Two psychiatry and therapy appointments totaling $281
- A $106 bill for blood work
- Medication costs of $100 for only three prescriptions (I take around ten total)
Because of these costs, I’ve had to start rationing my medications by taking them every other day; something I never want to do, but feel forced into right now.
I have an upcoming disability hearing on 05/04, and it’s critical that I continue my medical care and demonstrate adherence to treatment until then. I’m doing everything I can, but I don’t know how I’m supposed to make it through the next few months without help.
I’m raising funds to repair my car and to cover essential medical appointments, prescriptions, and insurance costs so I can survive until my hearing and continue following my treatment plan.
Any amount helps more than I can put into words. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser also means the world to me. Thank you so much for reading and for any support you’re able to offer.
