12/24/25 Update – From a Very Grateful Mom

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. The love, generosity, and support shown to Joshua has been overwhelming in the best possible way. Medical Update:

On 12/24/25, Joshua (aka Sharkie) underwent surgery to remove three infected teeth and a golf-ball–sized cyst in his sinuses—an important step before he can safely move forward with his aortic valve replacement. He is now home recovering, treating the infections with antibiotics, and, like most people stuck recovering, going a little stir-crazy.

Joshua misses his job, his routine, and his independence. This waiting period has been one of the hardest parts—physically, emotionally, and financially—but your support has made it possible for him to focus on healing and preparing for the next major step.

My son Joshua is just 38 years old, and his life changed overnight. He recently suffered a stroke, and while he was receiving emergency care, doctors discovered he needs major heart surgery and an aortic valve replacement. Joshua now faces a complex, high-risk surgery and a long, uncertain road to recovery. The urgency is real—his doctors expect it will be several months before he can return to work, and every day brings new challenges and expenses.

Joshua works in food service and does not have paid time off or a financial safety net.
