Emergency Help for Jim Gorham

Hi,

You might remember me from a fundraiser a friend of mine, Jeff Ranjo, organized for me a year and a half ago. I’m an artist who, due to poor health, isn’t able to work anymore. Thanks to the support from that previous GoFundMe, I was able to get a new-to-me auto and afford food. 

Since then, I’ve been living in my auto in a small town just outside of Sacramento. Usually, I park my auto in a parking lot near the police station, for maximum safety. The police have been okay with that, as long as the auto can be moved during the day. It’s cold here, so I spend my days going to the library. At night, I warmup the auto, turn it off and then bundle up in my sleeping bag. My auto takes me to the store for food and to 24 hr Fitness where I take showers. I am not in good health, so I have not been able to work. I’ve been hanging on, living this out of my car life, waiting to qualify for Social Security, which I hoped would help me get into more secure housing.

The good news is that I turned 62 and got my first Social Security check this month. The bad news is that my auto just broke down and needs a new transmission. I took it to an autoshop, and they say it will cost $4,000+ to repair. The money I got from Social Security is a fraction of that and I don’t have any other money. Once my auto is fixed, I’m hoping to save my Social Security for a few months, so that I can afford future repairs and maybe even rent a room somewhere. But at this point, I need your help.

Being on foot in the cold scares the hell out of me. Basically, I need a Christmas miracle.,I know it’s a lot to ask at this time of year, but your generosity would make a huge difference in my daily life. With your help, I will once again have transportation to warm places during the day and a safe place to sleep at night. Words cannot express how grateful I’d be if you could be part of my Christmas miracle. Can you please help?
