Jeni is a loving and devoted mother who lives with her two young children, ages 8 and 2 years old. She has been scared to leave the house for the past few weeks since her husband’s sudden abduction off the street by ICE. He left the house for a quick errand to buy oil for their car and soon after, realized that he was being followed. ICE agents surrounded and detained him, taking him to Tacoma and then quickly transferring him to New Mexico before lawyers could intervene. He is now awaiting deportation despite his pending asylum case and unsafe conditions for him to return to his home country of Venezuela.
Jeni and her husband came to the US fleeing political persecution and threats by a criminal organization. Upon their initial entry they were detained by immigration officials and unjustly separated from their children. After days of crying and begging officials of the detention center in Texas, an agent eventually checked the system and realized that they had made an error in processing them separately. After this first traumatic separation, the family was reunited and released to pursue their asylum case. They are still awaiting their first scheduled court hearing.
Jeni’s husband was the main income earner for the household. His sudden unexpected removal leaves her with no financial resources to pay her rent, household expenses, and take care of her children. She is actively seeking support to feel safer to go out into the community, find a daycare provider for her youngest child, and find work to sustain her family.
Any donations will go directly toward helping Jeni maintain her housing and cover basic needs for her and her children. Please share this request widely and help make a difference for this family who has been through so much already.
