Urgent Help for Jason Hildebrand's Medical Needs

Donation protected
My name is Brett Humphus, I have been a resident and servant in Kendall County since 2007. Jason Hildebrand needs our help.

Fellow friends and citizens of Kendall County, and other places this request may reach….Many of you know Jason Hildebrand of Comfort, Texas. Jason served Kendall County as a Paramedic for 16 years faithfully and honorably. For those of you that know Jason, I have never heard him described in any other way than “He’s the nicest guy you’ll ever meet”!
Jason fell at home two nights ago due to an ongoing medical issue affecting the nerves and feeling in his legs. During this fall Jason not only dislocated his right ankle, but he also fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg during this fall. While Jason received immediate care at the emergency department, the severity of his fractures requires surgical intervention to ensure proper healing and prevention of even more long-term disabilities. Due to Jason being uninsured he was discharged to home.

I am trying to raise $20,000 to assist Jason in being able to pay for his surgery to repair his leg.

Some back-story:

In June of 2023 while working a major vehicle accident that involved 5 fatalities, Jason suffered a severe back injury attempting to move one of those patients from the vehicle. During the time he was on worker’s compensation the insurance provider denied treatment requests by physicians and ultimately ruled that Jason had reached maximum medical improvement for his injury without ever taking the steps to determine the actual severity of his injury. This is not a fabrication or exaggeration, the only treatment ever provided for this back injury was one round of physical therapy. All other treatments and testing were denied by the insurance provider.

While on worker’s compensation Jason was covered under House Bill 471 for one year. At the end of that year, Jason was still on work restrictions by his physician and the KC Commissioner’s Court elected not to continue Jason’s benefits any longer. (This is not meant as a negative statement against the court, it’s just the facts that surround this situation). Due to the loss of his income and benefits, Jason was unable to afford the $1200 cost of insurance via COBRA. Jason is currently in the process of waiting for a decision on medical retirement through TCDRS as well as long-term disability insurance. (This has not been an easy process for him). He is also searching other options currently. However, we do not know how long this is going to take to receive a decision. Event then, those do not provide health insurance.

Jason is a very private man, and it took some convincing for him to allow me to create this GoFundMe. If you can find it in your hearts to help Jason out in any way, I know he will appreciate it more than he could ever explain.
