URGENT: Help Disabled Veteran & School Crossing Guard James Fight Undiagnosed Neurological Crisis and Avoid Eviction
The Immediate Crisis:
My name is James, and I am a disabled Veteran and a dedicated School Crossing Guard in our community. I am reaching out from a place of overwhelming necessity. Over the past several months, I have been fighting a rapid-onset, debilitating neurological condition that doctors suspect may be Multiple Sclerosis and/or Parkinson's Disease.
This sudden health crisis has left me unable to maintain full employment, resulting in the immediate loss of vital support—including my food stamps—and placing me at imminent risk of eviction by the end of November. I desperately need your help to cover critical medical costs and basic living expenses so I can focus on getting a diagnosis and treatment, not on where I will sleep next month.
The Challenge: Fighting a Nightmare Diagnosis
The symptoms began suddenly and have progressed rapidly, making simple daily tasks a terrifying struggle.
Mobility Loss: Severe lower leg muscle atrophy has made simple walking an intense balance problem.
Cognitive Decline: I am struggling with frequent short-term memory loss and general cognitive decline.
Motor Issues: Debilitating tremors are as exhausting as they are frustrating.
New Symptom: I am also now experiencing intermittent partial vision problems, adding another layer of danger and stress.
I am currently navigating a frustrating, expensive, and stressful diagnostic journey, seeing multiple specialists. However, the loss of income and the mounting costs of co-pays, specialized scans, and potential prescription costs are draining all my resources. I am facing eviction at the end of November if I cannot raise these funds.
Where Your Funds Go (Goal: $2,500)
While the full cost of my medical journey is unknown and will be significantly more than I have, this immediate goal of $2,500 will provide a critical safety net to prevent homelessness and allow me to fight.
Expense Category
Purpose
Housing Security
A down payment/partial rent to stave off eviction while I apply for long-term aid. (Note: Total 6-month rent is approx. $4,100).
Basic Living Needs
Essential groceries and basic living expenses (lost food stamps) to keep me nourished during testing.
Immediate Medical Care
Covering outstanding and immediate medical bills, co-pays, and transportation to specialist appointments.
The Safety Net
Providing the stable environment needed to focus on diagnosis and treatment.
A Call for Support, Hope, and Kindness
I am a disabled veteran who has served, and a school crossing guard who is proud to keep our kids safe—I am not one to ask for help lightly. But right now, I am completely out of options.
Your donation will not just pay bills; it will provide me with a stable place to fight this disease, preventing me from falling into homelessness at the most critical time. It will give me a fighting chance to get the diagnosis and treatment I need.
If you can't donate, I have one request: Please commit to One Kind Act a Day. Help someone else in my name. Every act of kindness—a shared story, a forwarded email, or a helping hand to a neighbor—builds the community we all need when crisis strikes.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your generosity and for giving me the stability to focus on my health.
Please share my story today!
UPDATE: since I first put this out, I have fallen three times due to instability, and I have spent most of the time from Thursday until today, which is sunday, in bed.
