An immigrant family located near San Jose, Ca. is days away from being evicted. For safety reasons, they have asked to be kept anonymous.
The family includes a single, immigrant mom who is a cancer survivor. She lives with an adult son with special needs, a teenage daughter, and an elderly mother with a cognitive impairment. They’re facing homelessness if they are evicted.
They are behind on rent and are trying to raise roughly $2K to help them stay in their unit as a reasonable accommodation of the family’s disabilities (or have the ability to get a motel, if needed).
They are in contact with lawyers and agencies who are working on getting them approved for programs that will help them longer term. However, they are at risk of eviction only a few DAYS from now, so those programs won’t help in time.
